What is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)

ME is a infection-associated chronic, debilitating, multi-system illness. Patients may experience a substantial reduction in daily functioning, profound fatigue, post-exertional malaise, unrefreshing and disordered sleep, cognitive impairment, orthostatic intolerance, flu-like symptoms, sensory sensitivity, amplified pain, recurrent headaches, and gastrointestinal disturbances.  Read more

What are post-infectious illnesses?

Currently referred to as post-infectious syndromes, or post-acute infection syndromes (PAISs), are medical conditions where symptoms persist after a prior infection, even after the initial infection has resolved or is no longer detected.  Some examples of PAISs include Long COVID (post-COVID conditions) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS).  Common symptoms include post-exertional malaise, severe fatigue, neurocognitive and sensory issues, flu-like symptoms, unrefreshing sleep, muscle pain, and joint pain. What is chronic Lyme or Borrelioses?

Post-treatment Lyme or Borreliosis develops from a tick-borne infection. This disease produces a wide range of symptoms and signs, which can be debilitating.   Common symptoms include severe fatigue, migratory musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and impaired memory. Read more

What is Long COVID?

Post Acute CoV2, PACS, or Long COVID is a chronic infection-associated illness that follows an acute COVID-19 infection.   The range of symptoms may stem from damage to major organs or result from autonomic dysfunction. Read more

Do you see patients at WPI?

WPI supports a separate medical practice through a MedME program grant.  We are currently in search of a practice to occupy the medical space and will notify the public via email and social media announcements as soon as a doctor is available.
